The creation of this gallery was a profound experience for me because I realized that it was the first time I ever made art primarily about myself. This gallery is an homage to my past. Within each piece of my work, I explored my keystone memories and how they shaped me as a person. With the woven piece, I cut up my clothes wrote important tales of memories and wove them together to symbolize how I am an embodiment of the past and the people I love. I chose fabric and clothing because its something that we wear and carry with us everyday just like the love I carry for the people in my life. Its soe’n within me. Within the suttonding works each address a specific memory , person or set of memories that are tied together by a feeling. Within those works, I attempted to transport people back to the moments I hold dear to try to share the immense joy, comfort and safety I have felt at certain points in my life.
